Ye Must Be Born Again

Why do we need to be born again?

   * Because we are all born a sinner. *

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and came short of the glory of God.”

   * Every human is born a sinner and as a sinner, we owe a penalty: *

Romans 6:23a “For the wages of sin is death;…”

Ezekiel 18:4b “…the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

   * This death that the Bible talks about is described as the second death, the lake of fire. *

Revelation 21:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”

James 1:15 “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Matthew 25:41 “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:”

Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

   * If we pay what we owe as sinners, we must spend eternity in the lake of fire (Hell) eternally separated from God and man. The sinner has death and hell as his payment for sin, but God’s gift is Salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. When we place our faith and trust in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, we are promised eternal life. *

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

   * Notice the second half of this verse. God is offering each individual eternal life through the shed blood of Jesus. Christ is the sinless Son of God and He took our sins upon Himself to pay our penalty for sin. *

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Colossians 1:14 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”

   * Through the sinless shed blood of Jesus, God provides us with eternal redemption.  Not temporary, but eternal, everlasting life. *

Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Hebrews 9:12 “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Isaiah 53:5 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

1 Peter 2:24 “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”

Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,”

Revelation 5:9 “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;”

I John 5:13 “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

   * So, what must I do to be saved? *

   1. Acknowledge that I am a sinner, lost, and on my way to Hell.

1 John 1:8-9 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”

2. By faith, believe the truths from God’s word where He clearly tells us that we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for Salvation and place our trust in Christ to give us eternal life.

Acts 16:30-31 “And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”

Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”

2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

God promises us that we “shall be saved” when we trust and believe by faith in the finished work of Calvary.

   Ask yourself:

   Am I a sinner, lost and deserving of Hell?

   Do I believe that Jesus shed His sinless blood on the cross to pay for my sins?

   If I place my faith in Jesus, will I receive eternal life?

   Can I know for certain I am on my way to heaven?

   I wish to share some Bible promises of eternal life and security of our position in Christ once we have placed our faith in Him. God promises those who trust in Him that He has prepared a place for us and that He will come again and take us to Heaven to be with Him

John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.”

Ephesians 1:13 “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,”

Ephesians 2:4-5 “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”

1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Hebrews 13:5b “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”

1 Peter 1:5 “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

1 John 2:25 “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.”

Once you have trusted Christ as your Saviour, we want to encourage you to join a Bible-believing church that you may grow in your knowledge of Christ and grow your faith. 

2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”

Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
